The Society of Polymer Science, Japan (SPSJ), Kansai Regional Chapter
The Society of Polymer Science, Japan (SPSJ) was established on December 2, 1951 and this year 2022 marks the 70th anniversary. The Kansai Regional Chapter is also proud to announce that it was founded at the same time for the purpose of constant and positive growth of polymer science by stimulating and supporting interactions and collaborations among industries and academia in Kansai area. We have approximately 2000 members and is the second largest chapter of SPSJ. Every year we focus to provide occasions for researchers from different backgrounds to share ideas on common research interests and to encourage young workers and students for discussions to foster future leaders. Our annual activities:
- The annual Kobe Polymer Research Symposium (co-organized) with the SPSJ Head Office in July. This Symposium consists of approximately 100 oral presentations, 80 poster presentations and 400 participants. The Young Scientist Lecture Award and Excellent Poster Award are given at the Symposium.
- Seminars targeting for younger generation are held at university and industrial sites in rotation, involving tour of facilities, laboratories etc.
- Seminars and meetings to discuss and to exchange views on polymer science and technology.
- The Kansai Regional Chapter offers two-day course of basic and applied studies on polymer materials, which is aimed mainly for the new company employees.
- Two-day course of practical training of basic laboratory experiments on polymer synthesis and characterization.
- Other activities: This year we have scheduled the special event for the 60th anniversary of Kansai Regional Chapter.
